 Downtown Pittsburgh Public Transit

pp1There are many ways to get around Pittsburgh via car, bus, taxi, bike, pedicab, boat or your own two feet! Many of the Pittsburgh Parking Authority Garages have free sheltered bike racks, so that there is one incentive of riding bikes in downtown Pittsburgh. Just recently, Pittsburgh mayor Bill Peduto announced a new program called Bike PGH which will place dedicated bike lanes (something not currently in place)on Pittsburgh city streets and define what the city looks like for the next 100 years. So you can see that biking in downtown Pittsburgh is the way to go for the future as national urban planners, bicycle advocates, and others will come in droves. Most city residents utilize the bus and light T rail service to get around town. Out of town business travelers use the taxi cab service while the boats are the least used transportation method in downtown Pittsburgh. Parking and driving your car in downtown Pittsburgh is not recommended because the city has a limited number of parking spaces available, they’re expensive to utilize, and downtown Pittsburgh itself lies on a very confined designed space.

 Hotels

Pittsburgh offers many hotels downtown and in the surrounding area that allow tourists to conveniently explore the city. Depending on the desired accommodations, and distance from downtown prices are between $44.00 to $315.00 a night. On the higher end, hotels are located in downtown giving patrons amazing views and easy access to all of Pittsburgh’s attractions. The lower priced options are outside of the city but still offer many accommodations for your visit. Whatever choice you make you will be able to see Pittsburgh.
